Join Me April 14th at Indie Fest

Come and join me on Saturday April 14th 2012 on the lawn of the Menil Museum in Houston where I'll be signing with other fabulous authors.

The Houston Indie Book Festival is hosted by NANO Fiction and Gulf Coast through a collaboration with The Menil Collection, and the Council of Literary Magazines and Presses at Menil Park (view map).

The 2012 festival will be on Saturday, April 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.. The event is completely free and open to the public and remains the only one of its kind in the Houston and Austin areas, featuring a variety of nationally-distributed literary journals and small-press books alongside local booksellers, book and magazine publishers, small presses, literary organizations, and writers.

Novel Writing I and II Begin Soon in League City, Texas

Novel Writing I and II (both continuing education courses) are offered exclusively at College of the Mainland's Clear Springs High School satellite campus in League City, Texas.


WRITING THE NOVEL I-15HRS 1.5 CEU (Continuing Education Course)

Explore your creative potential in this fun, multi-genre writing workshop. Whether you are interested in writing short stories, novels, poetry or nonfiction, this is the class for you. This dynamic hands-on class is conducted via classroom exercises, timed writings, lectures on craft and marketing, audiovisual presentation,where applicable, and free weekly critiques and line editing of manuscripts by instructor. All skill levels welcome. Bring your own writing materials: pen, paper or laptop, plus something to read or turn in to instructor on the first night. Whether you’re writing a novel or simply wish to infuse new life into an old project, this class is for you. Students will commit to writing and polishing the first 50 pages of their novel. Individuals with an existing work will edit and revise their first three to five chapters. Lecture topics include novel form, chapters, story structure, characterization and conflict. Writing exercises will relate specifically to each student’s novel. Beginning the first night of class, instructor will accept up to 12 manuscript pages for personal critique. Taught by a multipublished, award-winning author with more than 25 years experience. No senior discount.

Students will build upon skills and knowledge obtained in Writing the Novel I, and write or revise up to 300 pages of their novel. Instructor will work closely with each student and offer guidance and feedback. Plot, subplot, story layers, theme, traditional and “indie” publishing will be addressed. Assignments in and out of class will relate specifically to each individual’s novel. Bring your own writing materials or laptop and be prepared to write. Starting with the first class, instructor will accept up to 20 double-spaced, typed manuscript pages for review and critique. Taught by a multipublished, award-winning author with more than 25 years experience. No senior discount.
